Born on December 9, 1907, in Vienna, Nausch was a highly skilled center-forward and midfielder who left an indelible mark on the sport. Nausch first rose to prominence with the Austrian football club Rapid Vienna, where he began his career in 1924. Throughout his time with the club, he became known for his remarkable goal-scoring ability and his ability to dictate the pace of the game with his strategic vision. This led to Rapid Vienna winning three consecutive league titles from 1933 to 1935, with Nausch serving as an instrumental player in each of those triumphs. On an international level, Nausch represented the Austrian national team from 1929 to 1936, earning a total of 47 caps. He played a vital role in Austria's success during this era, including the team's triumph at the 1931 Central European International Cup and their third-place finish at the 1934 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Nausch's performances on the international stage solidified his status as one of Austria's most revered footballers of his time. Despite his immense talent, Nausch's football career was tragically cut short due to the outbreak of World War II. After retiring from professional football in 1937, he joined the Luftwaffe, the German air force, where he served as a pilot during the war. Tragically, Nausch lost his life on October 29, 1946, in a plane crash in Salzburg, Austria, while on a flight from Vienna to Klagenfurt.
