Kim Perrot

Kim Perrot Bio

Kim Perrot, a former professional basketball player, was born on February 18, 1967, in Lafayette, Louisiana. She gained prominence for her remarkable skills on the court, but she is also remembered for her perseverance and determination in the face of adversity. Perrot's rise to fame began in high school, where she excelled as a basketball player and caught the attention of college recruiters.

Perrot's exceptional talent led her to Louisiana Tech University, where she played for the women's basketball team. During her college career, the team achieved great success, winning back-to-back NCAA championships in 1988 and 1989. Perrot played a crucial role in these victories, establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in women's basketball.

After graduating from college, Perrot pursued a professional basketball career and joined the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) in 1997. She played for the Houston Comets and quickly became a standout player for the team. Perrot's skills, leadership, and determination helped her lead the Comets to four consecutive WNBA championships from 1997 to 2000. Her performance on the court earned her widespread recognition and respect within the basketball community.

Tragically, Perrot's promising career was cut short when she was diagnosed with cancer. In 1999, she was diagnosed with lung cancer, which had metastasized to her brain. Although she battled the disease with strength and courage, Perrot passed away on August 19, 1999, at the age of 32. She left behind a legacy of inspiration, both for her achievements in basketball and her ability to face adversity with grace.

Kim Perrot's impact goes beyond her basketball career. Her determination and resilience continue to inspire athletes, particularly women, around the world. In honor of her contributions, the WNBA created the Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award, presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on and off the court. Through this award and her enduring legacy, Kim Perrot's memory lives on, serving as a reminder of the power of perseverance and the ability to overcome obstacles.
