Born on August 7, 1977, in South River, New Jersey, Jodie developed a passion for the sport at an early age. He attended South River High School, where he excelled as a pitcher for the school's baseball team. Jodie's skills on the mound caught the attention of scouts, and he eventually went on to play college baseball at the University of South Carolina.
During his time at the University of South Carolina, Jodie's talent became even more apparent. As a standout pitcher, he helped lead the Gamecocks to numerous victories and achieved great individual success. In 1998, Jodie was selected in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the New York Yankees. This marked the beginning of his professional baseball career, where he played as a pitcher in the Yankees' minor league system.
While Jodie's professional career as a player did not reach the Major League level, he transitioned seamlessly into coaching after retiring as a player. In 2005, he joined the Somerset Patriots, an independent minor league baseball team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Initially hired as the team's pitching coach, Jodie quickly made an impact with his knowledge, skills, and dedication.
Jodie's coaching abilities did not go unnoticed, and in 2013, he was promoted to the position of manager of the Somerset Patriots. Under Jodie's leadership, the Patriots experienced tremendous success, winning multiple championships and achieving the best overall record in the league.
