Mitch Webster Bio

Mitch Webster is a former Major League Baseball player hailing from the United States. Born on May 16, 1959, in Larned, Kansas, Webster made his debut in the big leagues in 1983 as an outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays. During his career, which spanned from 1983 to 1995, he also played for the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, and Los Angeles Dodgers, establishing himself as a versatile and reliable player.

Webster's journey in professional baseball began when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 9th round of the 1977 Major League Baseball Draft. However, it was with the Toronto Blue Jays that he played the majority of his early career. His impactful skills as a speedster and switch-hitting outfielder quickly made him a fan favorite, and he became renowned for his ability to steal bases and score crucial runs for his team.

Webster's most successful season came in 1987 when he played for the Montreal Expos. This year marked a breakout for him as he achieved a career-high .304 batting average along with 20 stolen bases. Known for his excellent base running and solid defense, he played a vital role in helping the Expos secure their first and only postseason appearance that year. Although the Expos fell short in the playoffs, Webster's performance throughout the 1987 season solidified his reputation as a skilled and valuable player.

After retiring from professional baseball, Webster remained involved in the game as a coach and scout. He spent time working with the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners in various coaching capacities, contributing his expertise to the development of young players. Although Webster may no longer be actively playing the game, his contributions to the world of baseball and his impact as a talented outfielder have left a lasting legacy in the sport.
