Anjali Devi's journey in the world of cinema began when she was discovered by the renowned director, H. M. Reddy. He offered her a role in his film, "Aathma Bandhuvu" (1949), which marked her debut in the industry. Anjali Devi's brilliant performance in this film earned her critical acclaim and established her as a leading actress. She soon became a sought-after star and appeared in several successful films, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Anjali Devi was a prominent figure in Telugu cinema and worked with some of the industry's biggest stars, such as NTR (Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao) and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. She portrayed a wide range of roles, including mythological characters, historical figures, and modern women, captivating audiences with her captivating performances. Some of her most notable films include "Bhakta Prahlada" (1967), "Anarkali" (1955), and "Mayabazar" (1957).
Anjali Devi's contributions to the Indian film industry extended beyond acting. In 1955, she co-founded the production company, Anjali Pictures, which went on to produce several successful films. She also ventured into politics and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Andhra Pradesh from 1980 to 1985. Anjali Devi's remarkable career spanned over five decades, making her one of the most celebrated and influential actresses in Indian cinema. She passed away at the age of 86 on January 13, 2014, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and entertain millions of fans.
