Born on December 1, 1953, in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, Lane began making a name for himself in the hockey world during the 1970s and 1980s. Lane started his professional hockey journey in the Western Canada Hockey League, where he played for the Flin Flon Bombers from 1970 to 1973.
