Pat Riggin is a former ice hockey goaltender hailing from Canada who made his mark in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 1980s. Riggin was born on May 26, 1959, in Kincardine, Ontario. He began his professional career in the late 1970s, playing for a variety of teams before ultimately establishing himself as a reliable netminder in the NHL.
Riggin's NHL journey started in 1979 when he was drafted by the Atlanta Flames in the sixth round. The following year, the Flames relocated to Calgary, and Riggin played for the Calgary Flames for four seasons. Known for his quick reflexes and consistent performance between the pipes, he soon became a fan favorite in Calgary.
In 1984, Riggin joined the Washington Capitals, where his career reached new heights. He played for the Capitals for five seasons and became an integral part of the team's success. His standout performance came during the 1984-1985 season, when he helped lead the Capitals to the Wales Conference Finals.
Despite facing tough competition from other talented goaltenders, Riggin maintained a strong presence in the league. He later played for the Boston Bruins and later the Quebec Nordiques before retiring in 1990. Throughout his career, Riggin exhibited not only great athletic ability but also a determined work ethic that earned him recognition as one of Canada's most accomplished hockey stars.
