Born on June 21, 1981, in Lafontaine, Quebec, Canada, Danis later acquired American citizenship through his father's birthplace in the United States. Despite his American affiliation, he predominantly represented Canada in international competitions. Throughout his career, Danis played for various teams in different leagues, both in North America and abroad.

Danis began his professional hockey journey in 2005 when he signed with the Montreal Canadiens, a National Hockey League (NHL) team. Although he mostly played for the Canadiens' minor league affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, Danis made his NHL debut in the 2005-2006 season. He spent significant portions of his career with AHL teams like the Hamilton Bulldogs, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and the Albany Devils. His experience in various leagues and countries further elevated his reputation as a well-traveled and versatile goaltender. Ultimately, while Yann Danis may not be a household name in American celebrity culture, his accomplishments in professional ice hockey make him a recognized figure within the sport.
