FINALLY someone else aside from me has seen this series.

I think this was my gateway drug into anime to begin with; they were certainly my first pirated CD-Rs when that was a thing.

I watched it recently. It was definitely above average. I even cried a bit when... Forgot his name, the tall man passes away. But it still has a lot of relatively obvious plot holes, things that just don't make sense to keep the plot going etc, but overall, better than most anime I've seen.
