I'm too late to the discussion of this well-made movie. I wonder what else I have missed on because it's not as well marketed to international audiences unlike Barbie and Marvel movies. But I guess it's for the better that I missed out on the promotions because apparently the trailer gives away the plot. I came upon this movie from a clip. I had the impression that it will be dealing between the dynamics between people who see others as "not black enough" and related stuff. I mean I've seen people voice their opinions about such subject. And then, it turns out to be not the case. This is not a political essay movie like Barbie. Yes there are politics involved in a way that political views is human. This is a MOVIE movie. As other would have put it, this is cinema. There's a consistent, well-written storyline. You get drawn to the mystery despite it being not so mysterious if you know even a little of history. It's just compelling and thought provoking. I dare say that people who find it incosistent is missing the point of the complexity of the world. It leaves a lasting impression like the book Stepford Wives with more elements present.
