George Motoi (Sept 3, 1936 – Oct 9, 2015) was a renowned Romanian actor and director. He was born in Iasi, Romania, and attended The National University of Drama and Film in Bucharest. He started his career as an assistant director at the General Direction of Theatres in 1961, and later worked as a director and actor on numerous Romanian stages, including at the prestigious Bulandra Theater. Motoi is best known for his work in Romanian films, where he played a wide range of characters from comedy to drama. Motoi rose to fame in the 1970s, starring in several notable Romanian films, such as "The Oak," "Reconstituirea," "The Great Gamble," and "Iarna Bobocilor."
