Why do women have such bad taste in music?
I am sure there are a small percentage of women who have excellent taste, but the vast majority merely listen and like whatever the trendy crowd is listening to at the time. When I ask them, "What kind of music do you like?" The answer, inevitably, is "oh! I listen to all kinds of music!" This NEVER turns out to be true. They always listen only to the top pop hits of the day. Does it have anything to do with their lack of musical skill? There are tons of boys who play musical instruments, but not many girls. Why do girls seem to lack the passion and interest in music that leads to playing and enjoying it? Open to any input!

I hate my eyes as I read it first as men having bad music taste. I am one of that small percentage u are talking about and based on what I observed, most girls are just into trendy songs and they dont seem to explore their music taste thats why they dont know some of the underrated songs

Because music isn’t an important part of my life. It is background. I do wish I could meet a man who isn’t a music snob and doesn’t automatically assume he is “better” than others based off of his own totally subjective tastes… I think a lot of women say they listen to “all kinds of music” because they are used to letting the current partner control the play list, but after the relationship doesn’t work out they stop listening to that music because it reminds them too much of the failed relationship… I quite liked the Smiths, Smashing Pumpkins and Radio Head; but I don’t listen to them anymore because it makes me sad…

Aren't there about as many girls in band as boys? As far as adults, some can be explained by the greater variation in males than females. Maybe they really do like many kinds of music, but they're typically only exposed to what's popular. If they like it enough, and it makes them part of a group, they don't have much motivation to explore.
