Johannes Poulsen was a Danish actor who left his mark on Danish cinema in the early 20th century. Poulsen was born on August 13, 1881, in Copenhagen, Denmark to a family of actors. In addition to his acting work, Poulsen was also a filmmaker and director. He co-founded the film company Nordisk Films Kompagni in 1906 and directed several films, including "En Moder" (A Mother) and "Nålens Øje" (The Needle's Eye). He was also a pioneer of Danish silent cinema, and his contributions to the industry were recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Danish Film Academy in 1950. Johannes Poulsen continued to act and direct until his death in 1938 at the age of 57. He left behind a legacy in Danish cinema and is remembered as one of the most influential figures of the early years of Danish film.
