Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, but it doesn’t really feel like it. The calendar says celebration; the lights are up, the world keeps moving, but there’s an emptiness I can’t decorate away. Maybe the season didn’t change, maybe I did, and now I’m learning how to celebrate while carrying a sense of loss.

As the recipe dictates I'm going to freeze them and then take them out and decorate with Royal icing two days before gifting.

Tasted a few crumbs and they sent me straight back to the memories with my father when we did make similar cookies one or two times. I might just bake them for my birthday January the 6th if I don't go abroad before that for a few days.

Soooooo beautiful! I can bake, but I can't decorate cakes. It's so hard!
