Elsie Attenhofer was a prominent Swiss actress who made a significant contribution to the world of cinema and theater in the 20th century. Born on February 12, 1911, in Meilen, Switzerland, Attenhofer began her acting career in the late 1920s and went on to become one of the most sought-after actresses of her time. Attenhofer started her acting journey by performing in small theaters in Switzerland. However, her talent soon caught the attention of famed film director, Leopold Lindtberg, who cast her in his critically acclaimed film "Matterhorn" in 1931. The film was a great success, and Attenhofer was hailed for her outstanding performance. From then, there was no looking back for her. Attenhofer was one of the few Swiss actors who had international acclaim, and her work was much appreciated in European cinema. Sadly, Attenhofer passed away on December 16, 1979, in Zurich, Switzerland, at the age of 68.
