Takanosato Toshihide, also known as Takanohana II, is a former sumo wrestler from Japan. Born on August 5, 1972, in Tokyo, he comes from a long line of sumo wrestlers. He is the eldest son of legendary yokozuna (grand champion), Takanohana Kenshi, and the grandson of another yokozuna, former Takanohana Kanji. As a result, he was born into the famous Takanohana stable, which has produced numerous top-ranked wrestlers over the years. Takanosato Toshihide began his sumo career in 1988 at the age of 15, joining the Takanohana stable. He quickly rose through the ranks, displaying exceptional skills and determination. In 1992, at the young age of 19, he was promoted to the highest division, known as the makuuchi division. This promotion made him the youngest wrestler in history to achieve such a feat. Throughout his career, Takanosato consistently performed at a high level, earning the respect of his peers and fans alike. In 1995, Takanosato won his first top division tournament, known as a yusho. This victory solidified his position as one of the most talented wrestlers of his generation. Over the course of his career, he went on to win a total of five yusho, establishing himself as one of the most successful and dominant wrestlers of his time. Despite facing injuries, he continued to compete at a high level until his retirement in 2003 at the age of 30. After retiring as an active wrestler, Takanosato Toshihide took on the role of a stablemaster, following in the footsteps of his father and younger brother. Under his leadership, the Takanohana stable produced notable wrestlers and continued the family legacy. In recent years, he has also made occasional appearances as a commentator, providing insights and analysis on sumo matches.
