He played for various teams in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), including the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Purefoods Chunkee Giants. With his quickness, excellent ball-handling skills, and basketball IQ, Tang became a fan favorite and garnered a large following throughout his playing years. After hanging up his sneakers as a player, Tang embarked on a coaching career. He became an assistant coach for the Ateneo Blue Eagles, once again contributing to their success as they won several UAAP basketball championships. Additionally, Tang also served as an assistant coach for the Alaska Aces in the PBA. TY Tang's passion for the sport goes beyond coaching. He is actively involved in grassroots basketball, organizing training camps and clinics to impart his knowledge and skills to aspiring young athletes.
