Pia Lindström is a revered Swedish-American journalist, television presenter, and actress who is best known for her work with NBC News and WNBC-TV. Born on September 20, 1938, in Stockholm, Sweden, Pia is the daughter of the late legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman and his first wife, Swedish actress Folke Bergman. She grew up in a family that was deeply involved in the entertainment industry and developed a passion for theatre and acting at a young age. Pia graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, where she later began her broadcast journalism career with WNBC as a reporter and anchor. She later joined UPN's Access Hollywood in 1996 as a correspondent, and later worked for NBC News as a correspondent and producer. Pia was recognized for her excellence in journalism as she won the Peabody Award for a documentary she co-produced titled "A Premonition of Murder." Aside from her journalism and acting pursuits, Pia is also an accomplished theater director and producer. In 1989, she founded the Signature Theatre Company in New York City, where she served as its artistic director for a decade. In recognition of her contributions to the arts, Pia was awarded the Commander of the Swedish Order of Merit in 1998, and in 2018, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Stockholm International Film Festival.
