Stringfield attended the Performing Arts High School in Orange County and later graduated from the State University of New York with a degree in Fine Arts. She also studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. Stringfield is best known for her role as Dr. Susan Lewis on the medical drama ER. She portrayed the character on and off for six seasons from 1994-2009. She earned a Primetime Emmy nomination and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her performance on the show.
