Martha Henry Bio
Martha Henry is a renowned Canadian actress, director, and drama teacher. She is considered a national treasure in the Canadian theatre industry, having devoted her entire career to establishing and promoting Canadian theatre as a legitimate and respected art form. Born on February 17, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Henry grew up in a theatre-loving family and was exposed to the craft of acting from a young age.
Henry moved to Canada in the early 1960s, and it was here that she established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the theatre scene. She made her professional acting debut in 1962’s production of “The Marriage of Figaro” in Ottawa, and went on to perform in numerous productions across the country. Henry was part of the founding ensemble of the Stratford Festival, and her work there helped establish the festival as one of the most important theatre events in the world.
As well as her work on stage, Henry has also had a successful career in film and television. She has appeared in several Canadian movies and TV shows, including the critically acclaimed “The Wars” and “The Plateau” and the popular series “Road to Avonlea”. Her talent, dedication, and passion for the arts have earned her several awards and honours, including the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement in 1990, a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, and an induction into the Order of Canada.
In addition to her acting and directing work, Henry has also been a committed teacher of drama. She has taught at the National Theatre School of Canada, the University of Alberta, and has been a mentor to many aspiring actors and directors. Her influence on Canadian theatre, both through her own work and through her contributions to the education and development of younger artists, has been immeasurable.

INTJs are independent thinkers who do not necessarily follow the crowd. They like to be on their own, preferring to think things through before making decisions or taking action. They make decisions based on strategy rather than chance, much as in a chess game. Expect these people to rush to the door if the odd ones are out. Others may regard them as dull and average, yet they actually have an outstanding combination of wit and sarcasm. Masterminds may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they certainly know how to charm people. They'd rather be correct than popular. They are clear about what they want and who they want to be with. It is more essential to keep their circle small yet significant than to have a few superficial relationships. They don't mind sharing the same table with people from all walks of life as long as mutual respect exists.
