Lennie started his career in the entertainment industry as a jazz drummer, playing in numerous Scottish jazz bands throughout the 1950s. Lennie made his breakthrough in acting when he was cast as the tunnel-digging prisoner, Ives, in the war epic "The Great Escape" in 1963. The film, which starred Steve McQueen, was a massive success and catapulted Lennie's career to new heights. He went on to appear in many prominent British television shows, including "Doctor Who," "Z-Cars," and "The Avengers." Despite his success in acting, Lennie continued to be an avid musician throughout his life. He even played a small role in the 1982 film "Another Country" as a pianist. Lennie's dedication to his craft and versatility as an actor and musician earned him a significant following. Sadly, Angus Lennie passed away in September 2014, aged 83.
