Janet Brown was a beloved British actress, impressionist and comedian, known for her witty impressions of famous celebrities from the 1960s through the 1990s. Brown's career began in the early 1950s as a radio actress, with notable credits including the radio series "The Navy Lark" and "Hancock's Half Hour". She then moved onto making numerous appearances on television, where she gained a reputation for her uncanny ability to mimic well-known public figures. In the 1970s and 1980s, Brown became a regular on the popular BBC sketch show "The Benny Hill Show", where she showcased her talents with celebrity impressions such as Margaret Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II, and Barbara Cartland. Aside from her comedic work, Brown also appeared in a number of dramatic roles, including the British crime drama "The Sweeney" and the thriller "Goodbye Gemini". Janet Brown released a number of albums featuring her voice talents, including a notable album called "Janet Brown's Party" which was released in 1979. Additionally, Brown was a notable stage actress, at one point earning a nomination for a Tony award for her performance as Gertrude in "Hamlet". Despite her impressive achievements and contributions to the arts, Brown sadly passed away in 2011 at the age of 87.
