Albert Rémy was a French actor best known for his roles in some of the most iconic films in French cinema history. Even though he appeared in a wide range of film genres, Rémy was known for his remarkable ability to portray characters with a grounded authenticity that made him a favorite of both directors and audiences. Rémy began his acting career in the 1940s after serving in the French army during World War II. He appeared in uncredited roles in several small films before landing his breakthrough role in the 1953 film "The Earrings of Madame de..." by director Max Ophüls. From there, he went on to appear in several other films, including "Hiroshima Mon Amour" and "The 400 Blows," two of the most important French films of the era. In addition to his work in film, Rémy also appeared on stage and television.
