Jean Angelo was a French actor, director, and playwright who was prominent during the early 20th century. He was born on January 20, 1888, in St. Petersburg, Russia, to a French father and a Russian mother. Angelo started his acting career in 1909 when he was hired by the legendary actress Sarah Bernhardt to play the role of Julius Caesar in her production of "Cleopatra." He quickly established himself as one of the leading male actors of the French stage and performed in many other productions throughout France. In 1913, Jean Angelo made his film debut in "Le Scandale" directed by André Hugon. He went on to appear in more than fifty films over the course of his career, including "Le Golem" (1936), "La Dame de pique" (1942), and "L'aiglon" (1951). Angelo was also involved in directing and writing for the screen. He directed a few films, including "The Blue Train" (1938) and "Mademoiselle Swing" (1942), and co-wrote the screenplay for "Le Diable boiteux" (1948). Jean Angelo was a versatile actor who could play a wide range of characters. He was known for his ability to portray both noble and villainous roles with great ease. He was also highly respected for his work as a director and playwright. His legacy continues to influence the French film and theater industry to this day. Despite passing away in 1964, Jean Angelo's impressive body of work has left an indelible mark on French culture and entertainment.
