Jean Tissier was a French actor, comedian, and writer who was born on February 1st, 1896, in Paris, France. He began his acting career in the 1920s and acted in over 120 films and television shows throughout his lifetime. Tissier is well-known for his versatility in playing both serious and comedic roles, and he was a prominent figure in French cinema during the 1930s and 1940s. One of Tissier's defining moments in his career was his collaboration with the famous French film director Maurice Tourneur, who had cast Tissier in his 1929 silent film, "The Last Lord," which received critical acclaim. Tissier’s ability to portray a wide variety of characters made him a sought-after actor, and he appeared in many French films throughout the 1930s and the early 1940s. He landed his first lead role in the film "Les Quadrilles" in 1938, where he portrayed the character of Elector von Wilewsky. Despite his success in films, Tissier was also very active in theatre and radio broadcasting. In 1933, he participated in a radio adaptation of "Ruy Blas," a play by Victor Hugo, where he played the role of King Louis XIII.
