Brad Dexter was an American actor born on April 9, 1917, in Goldfield, Nevada. He was famous for his roles in Hollywood films and in television series. Dexter's parents divorced when he was young, and he spent his childhood in various places with his mother. He attended military schools in California and was an outstanding athlete. Dexter worked as a boxer, a salesman, a musician, and even as a professional tennis player before finally making his way into acting. In 1942, Dexter moved to Hollywood to pursue his acting career. He started off by doing small roles in films, such as "The Big Sleep" and "The Asphalt Jungle." However, his breakthrough role came in 1960, when he appeared as the character Harry Luck in the western classic, "The Magnificent Seven." He also starred in other notable films, such as "Run Silent, Run Deep," "Last Train from Gun Hill," and "Von Ryan's Express." Aside from his film career, Dexter also worked in television series. He made guest appearances in shows such as "Bonanza," "Hawaii Five-0," and "The Virginian." Dexter's last role before his retirement was in the 1981 show "The Fall Guy." Throughout his career, Dexter was known for his suave and classy demeanor. He was also respected by his peers in the industry, such as Steve McQueen and Frank Sinatra. After retiring, Dexter lived a quiet life in California until he passed away on December 12, 2002, due to emphysema. His legacy, however, still lives on as he is considered one of Hollywood's great actors of his time.
