In the 1960s and 1970s, Xie Jin faced several challenges due to the political climate in China. During the Cultural Revolution, his career suffered, and he was forced to work on propaganda films that aligned with the government's ideology. However, after the period of political unrest ended, Xie Jin was able to resume his creative work and produced some of his most notable films, including "Two Stage Sisters" (1964) and "The Herdsman" (1982). In 1995, he was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
