Collier’s acting career spanned over six decades and she appeared in numerous stage productions, films, and television shows. Her film credits include “Sylvia Scarlett” (1935), “The Awful Truth” (1937), and “Rope” (1948). Collier was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie “Sentimental Journey” in 1946. In addition to her acting career, Constance Collier was a respected and talented teacher of acting. She wrote a book entitled “The Technique of Acting,” which was published in 1926 and was widely regarded as a groundbreaking work in the field of acting theory. Collier also taught at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and coached many well-known actors, including Vivien Leigh.
