Galimov, along with his teammates, was en route to Minsk, Belarus, for their season opener when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff. Despite suffering severe burns on 90% of his body, Galimov displayed immense strength and determination, battling for his life for several days in the hospital. Galimov's tenacious fight captured the hearts of millions across the globe, demonstrating his unwavering spirit and resilience. However, his injuries proved insurmountable, and he tragically passed away on September 12, 2011, at the age of 26. Although his life was cut short, Alexander Galimov's legacy lives on, as he serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a symbol of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity. He will forever be remembered as a talented hockey player who left an indelible impact on the sport and the world around him.
