An age old question, Sub or Dub?

Question

No matter how many dulingo courses I have taken, I can not seem to pick up Japanese. This ofcourse leaves me with 2 options. Sub or Dub. To which I've always found myself in the Dub camp. It lets me split my attention up. Beyond that I have found, that although the voice acting of subs does provide feeling, my attention is on the translations, always leading to a disconnect from that emotion & action on screen.

Is it just me?

Side question: Any language apps out there that skip the wrighting /reading the language and go straight for the verbal communication?

Sub for first watch, so I can appreciate the storyline, then dub for second watch so I can appreciate the animation

Finally someone who gets it! In addition there are quite a few honorable mentions nowadays where dub va is better than sub

For me, sub period. I want to watch shows/play games with the voices meant for the characters. I've tried dubs before, and they've always sounded terrible to me.

When it comes to some languages, there won't be a perfect translation, so either way, the sub/dub will be different than the original language used.

The sub is better and I have no problem connecting the voices to what I'm reading, however I mostly watch dub cause I'm usually watching while I'm doing something and can't focus on reading
