After completing his undergraduate studies at Amherst College in Massachusetts, Charles R. Drew pursued his medical degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Following his graduation in 1933, Drew went on to complete a doctorate in medical science and began his journey as a researcher and physician. One of his groundbreaking accomplishments came during World War II when he served as the director of the first American Red Cross blood bank. Drew developed methods for processing and preserving plasma and successfully coordinated the collection and distribution of blood products to support military personnel. His work in establishing blood banks and advancing blood transfusion techniques proved critical in saving the lives of countless Allied soldiers. Beyond his extraordinary achievements in blood banking, Charles R. Drew's work extended to teaching and leadership roles. He served as a professor at several prestigious institutions, including Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a medical school in Vermont. Drew was also involved in various medical organizations, advocating for equal opportunities and better healthcare for African Americans. His efforts to improve medical education and access to healthcare for minority communities were groundbreaking and paved the way for future generations of medical professionals. Sadly, Charles R.
