"A man who's pure of heart...
A haunting quote from the classic film 'The Wolf Man' (1941) by Curt Siodmak. It's a reminder that sometimes, we can't escape our darker side, no matter how good we are. What are your thoughts on this quote, and have you seen the movie? 🌕🐺

I like this. I haven't seen The Wolf Man (though now I'm intrigued), so maybe the original quote is used in a more pessimistic context, but it also serves as a potent reminder of this quote (which has been quite important to me in my life): "Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail." -Theodore Roosevelt

Haven’t seen it in its entirety, but know the quote and the history of the film. Creighton Chaney (Lon Chaney Jr’s real name), was dealt a bad hand when it comes to the roles he was given. His father the famous Lon Chaney was well known for being the man of a Thousand Faces. A shadow that hung over his son, forcing him into roles like the Wolfman and Frankenstein’s Monster. (In one of that film’s many sequels). When judging by his initial unsuccessful career under his own name. He would’ve preferred to be a more traditional actor.

Haven't seen the movie but that's a profound quote, tho I'm a little distracted by the wolf+crucifix combo 😳 I think that people do the best they know how, and from the outside they can seem perfect and invincible – we don't know what inner wolf they're fighting to tame. In essence, we're all human and flawed – that will show up in some unexpected ways. The best we can do is 1- accept ourselves and others for who we are, 2- create support and systems to change what we can to become what we desire, and 3- beware our latent human capacity to turn into wolves (and endanger others), and take the necessary precautions.
