Ward Kimball was an American animator and one of Walt Disney's key creative associates during the early days of the Disney studio. Born on March 4, 1914, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kimball developed a passion for drawing and animation from an early age. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute and became a member of the California Watercolor Society. Kimball joined the Walt Disney Studios in 1934 and quickly rose through the ranks. He played a significant role in the creation and development of iconic Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse and Jiminy Cricket. Known for his distinct artistic style and sense of humor, Kimball brought a whimsical and comedic touch to Disney's animations, making them beloved by audiences of all ages. In addition to his contributions as an animator, Ward Kimball was also a talented musician. He played the trombone and became a member of the Disney Studio Band, which eventually evolved into the Dixieland-styled Firehouse Five Plus Two.
