He was an integral part of Iowa's team, exhibiting his versatility by playing various positions such as tackle, guard, and fullback during his college career. In 1949, Creekmur was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. This marked the beginning of his illustrious professional career, which spanned 10 seasons. During his time with the Lions, Creekmur was a key contributor to the team's success, helping them secure four NFL Championships in 1952, 1953, 1957, and 1958. His remarkable performances earned him nine Pro Bowl selections and five First-Team All-Pro honors. Off the field, Creekmur was known for his humility and dedication. Despite his numerous accomplishments, he maintained a humble demeanor and was highly regarded as a team player. Following his retirement in 1959, Creekmur shifted his focus to business ventures, successfully establishing himself in the world of real estate.
