Jon-Erik Hexum was an up-and-coming actor and model from America who gained popularity in the 1980s. Born on November 5, 1957, in Englewood, New Jersey, Hexum was the son of Gretha and Thorleif Hexum, who were of Norwegian descent. He grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey, and went to Tenafly High School. After finishing high school, Hexum enrolled at Michigan State University, where he studied biomedical engineering before switching to drama. While at university, Hexum started modeling and soon found himself working in New York City. His good looks and athleticism earned him several modeling projects and a contract as a model for the luxury fashion brand, Valentino. He also appeared in several commercials and music videos, including the video for the hit song “Physical” by Olivia Newton-John. Hexum's acting career took off when he was cast as the lead in the CBS series, "Cover Up," in 1984. He played the role of Mac Harper, a CIA agent who poses as a fashion photographer. Although the show did not last long, Hexum's performance in the series earned him critical acclaim and a legion of fans. Despite his promising start, Hexum's career was cut short when he tragically died on October 18, 1984, while on the set of "Cover Up." He accidentally shot himself with a blank cartridge gun while playing Russian Roulette on the set in between shots, which led to his death. Hexum's untimely death was a great loss to the entertainment industry, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of his fans.
