Too many things. Hookup culture. Dating apps. Putting weird bias based worth on people they barely know. Expecting instant results. Getting disillusioned with the reality of dealing with a real person with their own lived experiences. General selfishness and self interest. Just to name a few. Not saying that it was better back then. Pretty sure they had their own challenges.

Love is an action verb. Most people want it and don’t want to do the work. It develops overtime and doesn’t happen right away. The feelings might be there but for a relationship to really flourish you have to be vulnerable.

To find genuine love, we need to show our vulnerability to the other. But we live in a culture of fear, more than ever, and fear makes it difficult to show vulnerability. People are afraid to show their vulnerability because it has been weaponized against them. Men who show vulnerability have their "real men status" questioned. Women who show vulnerability are taken advantage of. Success is viewed as "who's the biggest and baddest and richest". In that view, only a handful can be successful and the rest are left to be trampled on. While in the end, most of us just want someone kind to grow old with and maybe give/recieve a sweet little spanking once in a while.

Go to social events. Make friends and maybe things will grow from there with enough effort between the two. Humans are not simple creatures{most of the time}. You can go through life completely single and independent these days. You use to have to work for meaningful relationships and work even harder to keep them. People chose not to do that anymore
