I once sent a candy bar wrapper and 99¢ to receive a vinyl 45 of Mr Roboto by Styx. But in honesty I cannot remember the first adult music that I warmed up to as a kid. I think I liked some of it as a kid. I liked Burl Ives, but some of his music was playful. I was typically forced to listen to what parents wanted to listen to. I did not have stereo rights and privileges. Hardly anything I liked on the radio as a kid would I identify with today. Maybe some Parsy Cline? Most all of my music love comes from exploration as an adult. I did notice when O went through an art music phase in high school and college years that I already knew Tchaikovsky well thanks to Looney Toons. Bugs Bunny’s personal soundtrack.
