I work in a customer-facing job, and it's quite busy with people interacting with me and asking for help (sometimes I just feel like I am in a castle with soldiers constantly raiding it). I also have to deal with colleagues, volunteers etc. who want to chat or just go in and out of the staff room. They aren't bad or unpleasant, it's just that I need some quiet time to decompress. 

Any advice?

How do you "endure" people who drain your energy when you can't physically get away from them?

Why is it so much easier writing this post and casting it out into the void than it ever will be to strike up an interesting DM one-on-one? It is crippling self-doubt? It’s not lack of imagination. Trying to strike up a conversation feels like being alone in a room and an attractive person walks up to you and stands and stares you directly in the eye, awkwardly waiting on you to be the height of intellect and wit. What should i say? I want to reflect things that have meaning to me, but i don’t want to be too personal and intrusive. Small talk is a violation on humanity, at least in the metaverse, where it has no purpose. What is the least amount of words i can use to be funny, curious and intriguing, where my person of interest will be bound to reciprocate that curiosity?
