Daniel Abineri is a British actor, director, writer and voiceover artist. Born on October 10th, 1946, Abineri has had a long and varied career in the entertainment industry. He is most well known for his acting roles on stage, screen and radio, but he has also directed and written for stage and screen, and lent his voice to many advertisements, documentaries and animated series. Abineri was born in St. Pancras, London, and raised in Finchley. After graduating from grammar school, he attended the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he studied acting. In 1968, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he made his name as an actor. He went on to appear in numerous West End productions, including Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Rocky Horror Show and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He has also appeared in various television dramas and sitcoms, including Casualty, The Bill, Minder, Bergerac, Lovejoy and Midsomer Murders. In addition to his acting work, Abineri has also directed several productions for stage and screen. Notably, in 1995 he wrote and directed a stage adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, which was produced by the Birmingham Stage Company and toured the UK for several years. He has also written screenplays for film and television, and worked as a voiceover artist on numerous commercials, documentaries and animated series. Recently, he can be heard as the narrator of the Channel 5 documentary series Walking Britain's Lost Railways.
