Mike Furber was an English-born musician who rose to fame in the 1960s music scene. He was born on September 28, 1948, in London and grew up in Sydney, Australia. Furber started singing at a young age and became involved in the local music scene during his teenage years. He was heavily influenced by British rock and roll bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Furber formed his first band, The Bowmen, in 1964 and quickly gained a following. He later formed a new band, Mike Furber and the Bowery Boys, who became known for their energetic live performances. Their debut single, "You Stole My Love," was released in 1965 and became a top 10 hit in Australia. The band went on to release several more successful singles and were considered one of the most popular bands of the time. In 1966, Furber moved to England in search of greater musical opportunities. He released several singles and an album, but was not able to replicate his success in Australia. He returned to Australia in 1969 and continued to make music, but struggled with drug addiction and personal problems. Tragically, Furber died on May 10, 1973, at the age of 24. He is remembered as a talented and influential musician who played a significant role in the Australian music scene during the 1960s.
