Gabriele Lavia is an Italian film and theatre actor, director, and screenwriter. He was born on October 10, 1942, in Milan, Italy. He began his acting career in 1962 with the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, where he was directed by the renowned Giorgio Strehler. Lavia became a prominent figure in the Italian theatre world, working with some of the most influential Italian directors. In the 1970s, Lavia also started to work in film, making his debut in Francesco Rosi's "Lucky Luciano" (1974). He appeared in several other films by well-known directors, such as Dario Argento's "Deep Red" (1975) and Federico Fellini's "City of Women" (1980). In addition to his acting, Lavia has also directed and written screenplays for films, including "La nemica" (1972) and "La via del petrolio" (1981). Aside from his contributions to film and theatre, Gabriele Lavia is also an accomplished teacher. He has taught acting at the Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico in Rome and at the Actors Studio in New York.
