Hello all! May I ask you to tell us how you first became acquainted with anime? I'm not into it, but I'm interested in the phenomenon of anime.

How often do you watch anime?

What other modern cultural or political phenomena make people from different parts of the planet close? Netflix? New ethics? Feminism? Something other?

Favorite anime the overly cautious hero

I watch anime maybe once a week if I want to watch something I'll bindge it or else I'll get bored.

Personally I'm more into manga as I can take it on the go with me

Pokémon was my first anime I saw it in the early 2000s I can't remember how old I was.

My favourite genre are:
Isekai,
Adventure,
Space opera,
Slice of life,
Mecha,
Dystopian,
Romance,
Comedy.

I haven't got a top favourite anime as there are too many to mention.

When it comes to cultural or political interests I have found most people are obsessed by the whole Donald Trump thing either side whether you hate him or like him.
Culture wise I'd say alot more of Asian culture is coming to the west and taking deep roots and that's a good things as culture mixture makes for more interesting cultural creations.

Yes I feel anime was one of the many feet in the cultural door metaphorically.

The whole gender this is a bit too confusing for me as I see it more like sexual preference rather than an actual gender, bit I am accepting of people's choice and have no issue with them.

Ethics wise I have found media to be a vital part of how the world is going down hill as too much nonsense and not enough real coverage, especially as they are more intrested in making people feel insecure about themselves and causing fear.

I personally feel that society is going down hill mainly due to the fast spread of information which is sometimes false or inaccurate causing more problems and pushing people more apart.

But like many technological advancement they get misused.

When I was really really young, I had a nice boxed tv in my room... very small, my dad used to burn dvd stuff. So first name I saw was Naruto, and I was like 4 or so.

My favorite anime today still is Naruto Shippuden but Food Wars is a close competitor.

I don't watch much anime anymore, last was like... 2 years ago, except the last season of attack on titan. That was a quick watch.

I don't watch anime regularly, though I do believe it is the last bastion of truly original and unique storytelling. Technically my first anime was Vampire Hunter D when I was 14, but I didn't understand or enjoy it. The next anime I watched, at the insistence of many, many friends, was Psycho Mob 100 and that was in my late 30s. I've since watched (and enjoyed) Samurai Champloo, One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, Demon Slayer, and Chainsaw Man. So it averages out to ... one a year?

God, I think Kimba or Speed Racer would have to be the first anime, if I’m understanding the definition. That was back in the mid 70s. I also loved Starhip Yamato although not sure I have the name right. I think what made anime different than the regular Saturday morning cartoons were the adult themes some of these shows would tackle. They didn’t talk down to you, and the concepts would often blow your mind. The world of anime has exploded since then, but I think it was Spirited Away that captured Western audiences in ways none before that I could name.
