Kotozakura Masakatsu, also known as Masakatsu Ito, is a former Yokozuna, the highest rank in professional sumo wrestling, from Japan. He was born on August 19, 1951, in Musashino, Tokyo. Kotozakura began his sumo career in 1967 and quickly rose through the ranks, achieving the prestigious rank of Yokozuna in 1973 at the age of 21. During his career, Kotozakura became known for his powerful physique and aggressive style. He possessed incredible strength and was revered for his devastating tachi-ai, the initial charge at the beginning of a sumo bout. His performances on the dohyo, or sumo ring, captivated audiences and solidified his status as one of the most dominant sumo wrestlers of his time. With his impressive track record, Kotozakura achieved a total of 10 championships throughout his career as a Yokozuna. He was particularly recognized for his skill in attacking larger opponents and displayed remarkable versatility in his techniques.
