Delicious in Dungeon is currently airing and it's one of the best new anime in recent memory.

Any studio Ghibli film would do.
Another studio's shows we usually enjoy watching is Kyoto animation. They produced shows like lucky star, K-on, the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya, nichijou, free! and much more. We would say they are all recommended classics these days. They tend to be well rounded shows and easy for anyone to take in.
If you want to watch something circling around music, shows like beck, kids on the slope, bocchi the rock are fun to watch.

Two shows we like to recommend to anyone are: Lycoris Recoil, a lovely animated action show and PopTeam Epic, because it is epic.
A third show, we mean why not, is Oshi no Ko. We lists this because a) it is interesting  and b) the OP/theme song turned out to be a worldwide massive hit last year.

Code Geass. Has good visuals and a good blend of action and psychological aspects. Plus it has big robots and the main character can essentially hypnotizes people.

Probably Death Parade. It's emotional, it's got little sub plots and HUGE character development. Plus it's only 1 season so finishing it will make you proud but immensely sad. 10/10

Frieren: beyond journey's end.
It gives a very good story, brilliant adventure, character development, a question of a love too late, good humor and the art for it all is great, just finishrd that one a bit more recently... it's short and sweet and will get you into wanting to watch others .. 
If you want a bit more long form anything from Studio Ghibli, as it is very detailed in every aspect .. 
If you want more suggestions for anime, just off the top of my head ;

Look for something shorter to cut your teeth on. 12 to 20ish episodes. 
Cowboy Bebop is a all time classic and considered a goat. But for something more modern.

Depending on what your interest are i would say start with host club, reincarnated as a slime, and my sister would recommend fruits basket, for a fun short one campfire cooking in another world, one last thing dub or sub if you dont know already is if the show has English voice acting or is just subtitles. Some shows feel different when dubbed vs subbed.

I'm going with either Squid girl, Zatch bell, or Psycho pass. Squid girl if you like funny slice of life, Zatch bell if you like battles and additional drama and good plot, and psycho pass if you like murder mystery and a pretty kick butt soundtrack. The third option gets wild..😂 but the first one is more tame for someone breaking into anime. Bungo stray dogs is also a very interesting one. OH, To Your Eternity. As a person who has watched over 300 anime ... And has been watching anime since kindergarten..... If you're new to anime there's no better one to start with than Naruto .... One piece aot and all other recommendations are good .... But u haven't watched anime to know what the subtleties in each animation or scene means ... And not other anime portrays it better than Naruto which also has an excellent dub so if you're not used to watching with subtitles is a plus .... My opinion, start with Naruto ... You won't regret it .. or death note ... It's also good
