I"m curious, why is there such a high focus on staying as you are instead of working hard to improve yourself?

From my personal experience, you should stay yourself and whoever you're in a relationship should stay theirself. And you both should build each other up, as that's how it's supposed to be. You work together to make each other better. You don't change for a different person. You stay who you are by making each other better and improving each other along the way. At the same time, you should also work on your. Self while you're trying to find that because In the end, it makes you more open to what you want in life

Striking a balance between confidence in/acceptance of oneself and improving oneself isn't always easy. Seems to socially swing back and forth between the extremes.

Growth is also hard lol not everyone is in a place to put the work in the way they'd need to
