You've probably watched Hollywood movies about pirates but who were they really?

☠️ "Pirates" 💀 was the label used by Western powers to describe the Algerian naval forces that dominated the Mediterranean Sea at the time. In Algeria, this was known as maritime jihad (naval warfare in defense of the state). One of the most famous commanders was Raïs Hamidou. (edited)
