Who are your favourite painters?

I like my painting to be just a couple steps away from realism so mine are edward hopper and Friedrich. Goya's gave me nightmares (his point was to give himself nightmares too I guess). Tell me yours. i can't wait to here about painters i may not know about.

What's your favourite sculpture and why?

I have two favourites: first one pretty obvious - Laokoon. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it in a book. The dramatic gestures, the hopelessness and expression just caught me. I recently discovered Waldemar Januszczak's art documentaries on YouTube and I have really enjoyed them! Can anyone recommend some others similar? I also like Nigel Spivey, Sister Wendy, and John Burger.
