Why is the red one always the leader?

Admittedly the only examples of this I can immediately think of are the Power Rangers and the Toa (shoutout if you remember Bionicle), but the question stands: why does being dressed in red make you automatically the leader? (edited)

What's a game you thought was difficult as a kid, but is far easier now as an adult?

For me, I played Bionicle the Mask of Light game for PC when I was little, and there were some sections of that game that were just outright brutal, and didn't explain much of what you had to do to pass them.
