Why does no one start from seeds?

I'm fairly new to bonsai as a hobby/interest. And I make a great deal of mistakes and have lost a lot of seeds and sprouts due to my lack of experience and knowledge. But I've notice when I look up tips or methods not many people start from seeds. They tend to either propagate, or aquire a already… read more

Madrone Yamadori

A half cascade in the wild. I have no plans to extract it, just admire it and protect it. Exquisite size and form for its age, usually they're much taller and straighter. Blessed.

Spring colors

Benihime J. Maple and my oldest coastal redwood. Bright green new shoots and pretty little white flowers. Those leaves are bronzed out fast.

No new growth.

Just wanted to upload a better pic. Might need to water a couple of them. Is this a good time to start pruning and shaping?

Will be ready in about 15 years. Will spend three years in a pot, then a few in the ground and back again, rinse, water, wire, repeat. (edited)

Benihime

Little red princess j.maple hankengai has a new spot and perked up. Shaped but barely trained so far, making sure she's stable first, pruning off all the eye pokers of girth and sorting out leaders and the like. I'm happy to see it in full color this year, pumping out massive amounts of seeds. No… read more

Starting a indoor window garden for my apartment.

So I'm starting a bonsai garden and could use a pointer or 2 for watering. The 1st go around got root rot from over watering and I'm proper soil drainage. This tome around I got more seeds and better pots for better drainage. I'm in Vegas so it's got lots of heat here and wanna make sure I get… read more
