What a difference a year makes

Today, I cycled to Soroptomist Park and a bit past it and back for a total distance of 11.25km and I did this in 1 hour. I know that sounds like nothing to any lifelong cyclist reading but given I have had knee cap (patella) dislocations due to weak leg muscles, that is actually great for me. It is my fastest average speed ever. In part it was because it was fairly windless this morning, so I was only really battling friction and gravity on my ride. 

Speaking of gravity, I managed to trike over a hill I normally walk my trike over, granted by putting my trike into first gear.

Weekend well spent!

Yesterday, I got a new trike and today it was finally assembled and ready for riding. I rode up and down my street (~0.22km) eight times today to get used to riding it. My street is about as flat and straight as any street I know, so it is kind of ideal conditions for riding a bike/trike. It was fun. To make this post a little more visually appealing, I thought I'd share some of the better photos I took during my walk earlier today, too.

Today, I cycled to Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park on my trike, which is about 9-10km one-way. My initial plan was to just cycle to Soroptomist Park (~3.5km ride), but the ride to Soroptomist Park I found was way more challenging than riding along the footpath there. This was mostly because today was a very windy day, with easterly winds between 20 and 30 km/h, and my trike I think has more surface area than my old bike with training wheels. This made the ride to Soroptomist Park a challenge, as for a fair chunk of the way I was riding against the wind. Once I was at the park, however, the wind wasn't going against me. 

The ride along the footpath was actually quite pleasant and I thought that when I left the park, where the footpath starts to get bumpier and less even, that it'd get a lot less pleasant and I'd feel the familiar desire to ride on the road shoulder instead of the footpath. But no, with the trike these bumpier areas were actually a lot more manageable. The footpath was also normally quite unpleasant because there's a lot of small, yet bumpy bridges (over the roots of big trees) along it and having to ride up these bridges and then down from them was usually a nuisance for me. But this time it was pretty easy, and I think that's because I felt more confident and safe and this allowed me to approach the bridges with more speed. 

Here are some photos I took at beach access number 20, which is near Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park. As you can see it was a rather cloudy day, perhaps explaining the wind.

Only thing that would make this day better is biking with some friends, and riding to a little hole in the wall place for brunch.

Heat wave finally started calming down

Your first day cycling? Is going to suck. No matter how active you are or aren't, if you haven't cycled in years, your legs are going to feel like jelly after a surprisingly short distance. 
Don't let this stop you. Be patient. Ease into it, and in no time you'll be amazed how far you can go.

29th July night, I arrived in Dhaka at around 10:00 PM with one goal—to challenge myself at the Hatirjheel Cycling Challenge 2026.
Today, I crossed the finish line and earned my Finisher Medal. It wasn't about standing on the podium; it was about proving to myself that courage is showing up, giving your best, and finishing what you started.

KM. One Finish Line. Countless Lessons. 🏅🚴

I rode through the woods to go shopping and back. On the way back a cloud with hundreds of horseflies was chasing me, while I rode over cobbles with potholes. We also have concrete panel roads here that sometimes have shifted to hight differences that sometimes match corner stones. I remember I had the same problem there with a hardtail and when I tried to outrun the horseflies I lost my Ortlieb Quickdrop panniers every 50m. So why on earth are full suspension travel bikes so rare? They give safety, they save your gear and your spine. And at least, when I make them, they are reliable.
I fortunately got the 2001 Riese&Müller Delite (Now it's only available as e-bike.) at a lower price as it would cost to build a frame on my own, which I do - sometimes for me, sometimes for sale. I've put in a fork of my own production. Thus the lowrider benefits from the suspension too.

I love bike riding this make me feel the essence of freedom in life and gives me a feeling of complete control over me with any stress or boundation. Do you like biking or have you ever felt this way?

Cycling is my favorite time.

Long covid means I find it hard to stay awake after cycling and people think that's normal this days, back in 2014 I cycled the Manchester to Blackpool day ride of a mountain bike then in 2015 the night ride, I just want to find that person who would cycle with me, encourage me to keep going and when I crash physically that they hold me and help me carry on.

Having a bike that fits you is more important than having a pretty and fast one. 
Cause if it hurts to ride, you won't want to. And riding an "ugly" bike while pain free is so much more important than looking cool, cause people in pain don't look cool. Sorry🤷
